So our little Derin now has 2 little teeth on his bottom jaw, and a 3rd one coming out soon on the top. He's doing just fine during the day, but suffers a little bit during the night.... Just when we said he started sleeping thru the whole night, he's now waking up about 5-6 times again. Oh well...such is life. Soon he will bite into a ton of new food (and other new stuff) with those teeth, and keep exploring the world.
I wasn't quite able to photograph his teeth just yet....but we can start with one photo, that visualizes a Turkish ritual of "baby's first tooth". It's actually a celebration (any excuse, right?!?) of this new phenomenon, where (of course) people get together to eat lots of great food. There's one special kind of dessert, called "tooth wheat" (I know, not nearly interesting just by the name) - "dis bugdayi", for Turkish speakers. I didn't get to eat a whole lot (I'm trying to get back to pre-pregnancy weight), but dad cooked it, and great aunt garnished it with pomegrantes... One more ritual fulfilled for baby Derin! :)
