Derin's First Ever Candy / Derin'in Ilk Seker Yiyisi

Derin had another haircut yesterday at our favorite place, Happy Kids Haircuts in Scarsdale. He loves the place because they have a giant train that moves around and many other toys to play with, not to mention the airplane seat that he sits on while getting his haircut. However, that wasn't the big deal yesterday. It was instead, the lollipop candy. His first ever. And he had 2! One in each hand. So much fun!

Derin, her zamanki cocuk kuaforumuzde sacini kestirirken, yine orada bulunan tren ve bir suru oyuncak sayesinde hic sikilmadi. Ancak bu sefer ilgisini ceken baska birseydi: Ilk kez seker yedi Derin Ege. Hem de lolipop. Belli ki cok sevdi, cunku elinden birakmak istemedi. 

Five Islands Park in New Rochelle / New Rochelle'deki Bes Adalar Parki

Yuksel was out of town on business last week. I took Derin and grandma to our neighborhood park. Living by the Atlantic Ocean has its advantages, so we thought we'd take time to enjoy them. Again, it was another unusually warm winter day. Derin enjoyed the sights, yet had the most fun at the play ground. Becoming a toddler has changed his life (and ours :)).

Yuksel sehir disinda seyahatteyken, ben babaannemizi ve Derin'i yakindaki Five Islands Park'a goturdum. Cok guzel bir kis gunuydu yine. Hepimiz parki cok sevdik, ama Derin en cok cocuk bahcesini sevdi. Artik yuyuyor olmak onun hayatini, ve tabii ki bizimkini de, degistirdi.  

Spring-like Winter Day at the Zoo / Ilkbahar Gibi Kis Gunu Hayvanat Bahcesi'nde

Derin, grandma and I met with Inge and Oscar to visit the zoo last week, on a beautiful spring-like day. Everybody had a lot of fun. Since Derin is now walking, he had much more fun than last time and spent a lot of time chasing peacocks :)

Derin, babaane ve ben, Inge ve Oscar ile bulusup cok guzel bir kis gununde hayvanat bahcesine gittik. Derin artik yuruyebildigi icin cok eglendi, ve uzun sure tavuskuslarini yakalamaya calisti. 

Laughing in the Car / Arabada Gulusmeler

Last weekend, we were all going somewhere, and Derin and I were sitting in the back. As it took a while to get to the place, I had to entertain the little guy. Few pics of mommy-son fun.

Gecen hafta sonu beraberce biryerlere giderken yolun uzamasi uzerine Derin'im huzursuzlanmaya baslayinca, onu biraz eglendireyim dedim. Anne-ogul gulusmelerinden birkac fotograf asagida. 

 

 

 

First Steps + Yay, Planes! / Ilk Adimlar + Ucaklar!

23 Ocak gunu Derin Ege ilk kez yurudu. Babasi aksam yemegini hazirlarken ben de Derin'le oyun oynuyordum. Kendi kendine cok uzun suredir zaten ayakta duruyordu ama bir turlu ilk adimi atacak cesareti bulamiyordu. O aksam, sehpaya tutunmus olan ellerini birakip bana dogru 4-5 adim atti. Cok guzel bir andi bizim icin. Babasina gostermek icin sonra birkez daha denedik, yeniden yurudu. Cok sevindik. O anin videosunu ne yazik ki yakalayamadik, ama asagidaki videoyu sadece birkac gun sonra cektik, onun ilk adimlarini hatirlamak icin... Oglum yuruyor... Ne kadar hizli buyudugune inanamiyorum.... Hem mutlu, hem uzgunum. 

Derin Ege took his first steps on Jan 23rd. Daddy was making dinner, while I was playing with him in the living room. He had been standing up without support for a while now, but honestly, he was a little too chicken to take his first steps yet. But that night, he finally did it, and walked towards me with 4-5 steps. Was an amazing moment. Couldn't record exactly that moment, but the video below was taken only a few days later. Derin's walking.... I can't believe how fast he's growing... Bittersweet...

Ocak ayi icinde Derin'in cok cok sevdigi ucaklari daha yakindan gorup tanimasi icin onu Long Island'daki Havacilik Muzesi'ne goturduk. Gorduklerinin belki yarisini anlamis olmasina karsin herseyi dikkatle inceledi, dokundu, oynadi... cok mutluydu. Elbette biz de. 

In January, we also took Derin to the Aviation Museum in Long Island, to have an up-close look at the planes that he loves. Even though he understood probably only about half of what he saw, he observed and interacted with everything with curiosity. He was happy, and so were we.
