Illegal Immigrants on a boat crossing the border, a.k.a. Niagara Falls trip - (Aug 2011)

When the weather was still beautifully "summer" back in August, we took a family road trip up north to visit the wonderful Niagara Falls. It was a lot of fun. We stopped at Syracuse for the night on the way to the falls, and stopped at Buffalo on the way back. Let em tell you that there isn't much gonig on over there. At least it looked like it.

Derin was a no-fuss baby the whole time during the trip and thus, so were we :)

It reminded us that we should do more trips, long weekends, and get ourselves away from the daily grind... We tried to go somewhere on many weekends since than, but not quite a road trip. We should get better at this. I'll remind myself to add that to "the list".

Enjoy some photos from the trip!

The falls doesn't look like much from the wrong side...

Then you realize how crazy it is. we were on that little boat you kind of see in the mist

Gets literally intimidating when you get up close and personal with the falls

We were like a bunch of illegal immigrants on a boat trying to cross the border (there were that many people on the deck)...come to think of it, we were literally on the border, but the only thing illegal on that boat was.... haha, nothing.

WOW.

Derin enjoyed the whole boat ride, not a single peep when the boat was bring pushed around by the crazy water falling from above... fearless boy (will he stay like that? we'll see)

Had dinner in Syracuse on the way to the falls

The bed was a little too big for D. By the way, we stayed at Hotel Skylar, that claimed to be one of 3 in the whole world to be a fully sustainable hotel. They had special parking for hybrid cars! Brought tears to my eyes when we parked in front of the hotel door, with our Prius.

Had REAL Buffalo wings, in Buffalo, in the place it originated: Anchor Bar. I didn't know this, but even Buffalo wings are Italian-origin...Place was established by Frank and Teresa Bellissimo, and Teresa made this up one day past midnight for Frank (his son) andhis friends who'd been drinking, and needed some food.
The place was a combination of old-school restaurant and a shrine dedicated to classic motorcycles, mostly Ducati.  Had a lot of fun there. It seemed to be the most exciting thing going on in Buffalo.
